Coaster Bus vs Hiace Bus: Which Should You Rent in Lagos?

Almost every group-transport enquiry we get starts with one of these two vehicles in mind, and the two get confused for each other often enough that it's worth a straight comparison rather than assuming bigger is always better.

Seating and group size

The Hiace bus seats up to 14 passengers and is the more manoeuvrable option in Lagos traffic and tighter estate roads. The Coaster runs 30–33 seats and is built for larger, single-vehicle groups where splitting across two Hiace buses would mean coordinating two drivers and two pickup points instead of one. When a Hiace makes more sense

• Small teams, families or groups of 10–14 people
• Airport runs where a full-size Coaster is more capacity than needed
• Tighter routes or estates where a smaller vehicle turns and parks more easily
• Trips where minimising cost per head matters more than seat comfort

When a Coaster makes more sense

• Church and school groups, weddings, corporate events and conferences
• Any group above 15 people travelling together as one unit
• Multi-day, out-of-town trips where one bus and one driver is simpler to manage than a convoy
• Events where the group needs to arrive and leave together

Cost difference

Because the Coaster carries more than double the passengers of a Hiace, its rate is higher, but the cost per person is usually lower once a group crosses about 15–18 people.
