How Far in Advance Should You Book a Bus Rental in Lagos?

One of the most common questions before booking a Coaster or Hiace in Lagos is simply how early to reach out. The honest answer depends less on the type of event and more on the date — some weeks have far more demand than others, and vehicles for the busiest dates get booked out well ahead of time.

Standard weekday bookings

For a weekday corporate shuttle, an airport pickup, or a mid-week event, a booking made a few days ahead is usually enough. Availability on ordinary weekdays is generally good, and last-minute bookings can sometimes be accommodated with as little as same-day notice, depending on the vehicle and route.

Weekend events: aim for one to two weeks ahead

Saturdays are the busiest single day of the week for events in Lagos — weddings, owambe parties, church programmes and social events all compete for the same weekend availability. Booking one to two weeks ahead for a standard Saturday event gives a comfortable margin, particularly for larger vehicles like the Coaster.

Peak seasons need more lead time

• December: the busiest month of the year for group transport in Lagos. Book at least two to three weeks ahead, and earlier for New Year's Eve specifically.
• Wedding season (November–January and around Easter): Saturdays in these windows fill fastest — two to four weeks ahead is a safer margin than one week.
• NYSC camp intake dates: mobilisation dates draw high demand for group transport to camp locations, so booking as soon as your camp date is confirmed helps.

Armoured and specialty vehicles

The armoured Hiace and other specialty vehicles have a smaller fleet than standard Coaster and Hiace units, so these bookings generally benefit from more lead time than a standard charter, particularly for weekend dates.
